Al V. Rice

Alvist (Al) V. Rice and his wife Jean were the second family to build in Laguna Vista overlooking Lake Weatherford. There they raised their 4 kids plus a few horses on their 3 acre tract. When they first came to Willow Park to buy land, Mr. Pounds, the realtor for the development was on horseback and together he and the Rices traipsed around the dusty trail (later known as Vista Drive) to select the exact land that the rice family wanted.

Al Rice served the City for about 10 years first on the Planning & Zoning Board, as mayor and later as a commissioner. During that period (1968-1980) he saw the City more than quadruple in population.

Following his children's graduation from Weatherford Mr. & Mrs. Rice moved to Weatherford where they live today. When asked Mr. Rice stated that the two things he was most proud of were the formation of the Willow Park Fire Department and the building of the Municipal Building.
